Resuls of Tests - 12/14/12

Friday 12/14/12 at lunch I called the 1-800 to see if the results were posted.  To my excitement they were.  As i punched in my patient id number I was hoping all of the results came back ok. 

Down Syndrome
Before Test - Risk 1 in 295
After Test - Risk 1 in 882

Trisomy 18 and 21
Before Test - Risk 1 in 536
After Test - Risk 1 in 1387

Both are in the decreased risk levels so that puts our mind at ease.

We also found out the sex of the baby............IT'S A BOY!!

We are naming him William Edward Garcia and going to call him Willie, well atleast for as long as he lets us :)

My grandpa on my dad's side was named Willie and Pablo's Grandpa on his mom's side was named William.  My dad's name is Edward so we thought combining the two would be perfect.

We went to do the Down Syndrome and Jack/Jill DNA test on 12/6/12.  This consisted of an ultrasound to measure the baby's growth and blood work.  We got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time, it was very exciting!  Next they had to take several blood viles for the tests that they need to perform.  We had to wait 7-10 business days before we hear the results.  We were given a 1-800 number and our patient id to call every afternoon to check and see if the results are uploaded.

Doctor's Visit - 11/29/2012

We went to our second doctor's visit yesterday, November 29th.  It was a very exciting visit, we got to see our baby's arms and legs moving.  We still couldn't hear the heart beat, but we got to see it flicker on the screen.  As of today, we are 11 weeks and 4 days along.  We will go for the Down Syndrome test next Thursday.  We made our appointment to determine the sex of our little one for January 24th, we can't wait :)

For those of you that don't know yet, we are expecting!!  I wanted to start a blog so everyone near and far can keep up with our pregnancy should they choose to follow us :)  We received a positive result on October 13th but chose not to tell anyone until we confirmed everything was OK with our first office visit.  As of yesterday, we are 10 weeks along.  We will go to our next office visit on November 29th.  Thus far I had only experienced the symptoms of being tired and an achy back, that was until this morning when I got my first dose of nausea (Not fun!).  The doctor said our due date is 06/17/13, and we should find out the sex of our little one sometime in January.  We are very excited and can't wait for everyone to meet our little bundle of joy!
