Sunday June 23rd, William turned 1 month old. I can't believe how much he has grown. He is so alert and turns to look at you. He also tries to hold his head up and turns on his side.

Bath time
William had his first bath and he screamed the whole time. We gave him another bath last night and he was much happier. It wipes him out and he slept really good. Yay!

Expect the unexpected!
Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 4:04 p.m. I looked at the clock on my work computer and see its time to go. I head over to Babies R Us to purchase the mattress cover so Pablo and I can finish the nursery that night. I give him a call and then I pull into the parking lot, finish our conversation and hang up. As i stand up I didn't know whether my water broke or I peed on myself, I go inside the store to the bathroom to see which is the case. It's my water, I get in the customer service line to try to pick up my item but there were two people in line and they were moving slow so I left and called my doctor. I was told to make my way to the Woman's Hospital. We were not ready for this, my bag was not packed and the nursery was not complete. The stroller/car seat my parents got us wasn't arriving until tomorrow and the Vera Bradley overnight bag I ordered wasn't arriving until that Saturday. I call Pablo to tell him my water broke and he starts laughing, I say "Not Funny! please head home. I arrive at the house and call Renee so she can tell me what I need to pack. By the time I'm done, Pablo gets home. The dogs are sniffing me like crazy, I learned later they can smell the amniotic fluid and they know something is going on.
We get into the car, both a little freaked out and head into 5 o'clock galleria traffic. I text my boss and Brad to say "water broke, going to hospital", i know they were not expecting this so early. We arrive at the hospital and my room is not ready so they sit us in the waiting room. I'm crying because I want my mom but she can't be there and my dad has to take care of her to so he can't either. The nurse thought I was in a lot of pain because I'm crying, but I wanted my mom. It was hard not having them there, but tank goodness my sister came, I needed her there. I was admitted at 6 p.m. and was only 1 cm dilated. Dr. Leeds-Richter passed by and said this was not the plan, we laughed and said "We know!" She looked at me and said you won't have him until tomorrow get some rest.
At 10 p.m. I was 3 cm dilated and now wanted the epidural. As my luck would have it, the anesthesiologist was in surgery so I had to wait. He finally got there and it wore off in 30 minutes. I squeezed the button three times and no relief. By now it's midnight and I am already at 9 cm. she called the anesthesiologist back in and he gave me another dose in my back. This knocked me out until 2 a.m. by that time I was 10 cm and what I have been dreading the pushing was about to begin. I had no idea what pain was until that moment. I pushed until 3 o'clock when they saw the head and called Dr. Leeds-Richter in. I pushed for awhile longer but my cervix was tight so she said if he doesn't come after this round of pushing they will get the vacuum and sure enough they did and William was born at 3:36 a.m.
I remember the nurse saying he wasn't breathing right and they took him to the NICU. I started hyperventilating, I remember Pablo telling the nurse she is turning purple. I was so cold and shaking. They kept telling me to calm down but the only thing that worked was when I felt like i was going to vomit and focused on that. They said it was the combination of adrenalin and the epidural that caused it. That was worse than labor, I was scared to death. I passed out and don't remember anything after that. I was out for three hours and Pablo got to hold William during this time.
We stayed there from Wednesday until Saturday evening. I couldn't wait for my parents to meet him, that was an amazing moment! William is the antidote mom needs, she is so alert and happy when he's there. I thank god that she is able to be here and share this with us!
