3 months old

We went to the doctor last week and William weighed in at 11 lbs 5 oz.  He was 23 3\4 in long.  He is sleeping 7-8 hours during the night and taking cereal with his formula. He is so alert and a happy baby.  His newest thing is pointing his toes.  We are truly blessed!

William's Baptism 8/18/13

Altar Flowers

William was baptized on Sunday May 18th at Zion Lutheran Church.  It was a beautiful ceremony led by Pastor Tracy.   William did not cry at all until we were taking pictures and he got tired.  All of our closest friends were in attendance to witness this joyous occasion.  Nana and Papa were sad they missed this because they were not feeling well, but we videotaped it for him to watch.  My Godfather, Uncle Billy was there and that was a special moment for me.  We chose my sister Lori and Renee/Kris Moreno to be his Godparents. We asked Sharon to take pictures and she did a great job!

After the ceremony, we headed over to the Great Room for lunch.  We served chicken salad sandwiches, chips, deviled eggs, tea, pasta salad and cake.  Aunt Lori, Ricky, Melissa, Pablo and myself cleaned up and then we headed home.  William was pooped after such a long day, but we had a blast.

William received some nice gifts.  Aunt Lori got him his first bible that had his name on the front.  Cousin Kelsi got him a book called "watch me grow" it was her favorite book when she was little.  Renee and Kris got him a beautiful cross to hang in his room.  Ann and Dennis got him a beautiful photo album.  The Symmank's and Uncle Billy gave William cash, which we are going to use to start William a college fund.

Thank you to everyone who came to be apart of this joyous day, it meant the world to us!

2 Months Old

William is now 2 months old, he weighs 10 pounds 1 ounce and is 22 inches long. He learned how to stick his tongue out, he can hold his head up on his own when he's on your shoulder, and he grabs things with his feet and hands. When I sing to him or talk to him he coos a lot,  he makes big smiles and he is such a happy baby. On July 25th William slept through the night for the first time. It hasn't happened since but we're hoping it will soon :-)

Sunday June 23rd, William turned 1 month old.  I can't believe how much he has grown.  He is so alert and turns to look at you.  He also tries to hold his head up and turns on his side.

Bath time

William had his first bath and he screamed the whole time.  We gave him another bath last night and he was much happier.  It wipes him out and he slept really good.  Yay!

Expect the unexpected!

Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 4:04 p.m. I looked at the clock on my work computer and see its time to go.  I head over to Babies R Us to purchase the mattress cover so Pablo and I can finish the nursery that night.  I give him a call and then I pull into the parking lot, finish our conversation and hang up.  As i stand up I didn't know whether my water broke or I peed on myself, I go inside the store to the bathroom to see which is the case.  It's my water, I get in the customer service line to try to pick up my item but there were two people in line and they were moving slow so I left and called my doctor.  I was told to make my way to the Woman's Hospital.  We were not ready for this, my bag was not packed and the nursery was not complete.  The stroller/car seat my parents got us wasn't arriving until tomorrow and the Vera Bradley overnight bag I ordered wasn't arriving until that Saturday.  I call Pablo to tell him my water broke and he starts laughing, I say "Not Funny!  please head home.  I arrive at the house and call Renee so she can tell me what I need to pack.  By the time I'm done, Pablo gets home.  The dogs are sniffing me like crazy, I learned later they can smell the amniotic fluid and they know something is going on.

We get into the car, both a little freaked out and head into 5 o'clock galleria traffic.  I text my boss and Brad to say "water broke, going to hospital", i know they were not expecting this so early.  We arrive at the hospital and my room is not ready so they sit us in the waiting room.  I'm crying because I want my mom but she can't be there and my dad has to take care of her to so he can't either.  The nurse thought I was in a lot of pain because I'm crying, but I wanted my mom.  It was hard not having them there, but tank goodness my sister came, I needed her there.  I was admitted at 6 p.m. and was only 1 cm dilated.  Dr. Leeds-Richter passed by and said this was not the plan, we laughed and said "We know!"  She looked at me and said you won't have him until tomorrow get some rest.

At 10 p.m. I was 3 cm dilated and now wanted the epidural.  As my luck would have it, the anesthesiologist was in surgery so I had to wait.  He finally got there and it wore off in 30 minutes.  I squeezed the button three times and no relief.  By now it's midnight and I am already at 9 cm.  she called the anesthesiologist back in and he gave me another dose in my back.  This knocked me out until 2 a.m. by that time I was 10 cm and what I have been dreading the pushing was about to begin.  I had no idea what pain was until that moment.  I pushed until 3 o'clock when they saw the head and called Dr. Leeds-Richter in.  I pushed for awhile longer but my cervix was tight so she said if he doesn't come after this round of pushing they will get the vacuum and sure enough they did and William was born at 3:36 a.m.

I remember the nurse saying he wasn't breathing right and they took him to the NICU.  I started hyperventilating, I remember Pablo telling the nurse she is turning purple.  I was so cold and shaking.  They kept telling me to calm down but the only thing that worked was when I felt like i was going to vomit and focused on that.  They said it was the combination of adrenalin and the epidural that caused it.  That was worse than labor, I was scared to death.  I passed out and don't remember anything after that.  I was out for three hours and Pablo got to hold William during this time.

We stayed there from Wednesday until Saturday evening.  I couldn't wait for my parents to meet him, that was an amazing moment!  William is the antidote mom needs, she is so alert and happy when he's  there.   I thank god that she is able to be here and share this with us!

DR.'S VISIT - 05/20/13

Today was our 36 week checkup.  William's heartbeat was 136 BPM.  I am currently almost 1cm dilated and 95% effaced.  She doesn't expect me to make it to my due date.  She is thinking the beginning of June.  We go next Wednesday and I will be full term at 37 weeks.  She has me on light activity so contractions don't begin.  My blood pressure was normal, YAY!, so she didn't have to put me on medication.  Not long now until we get to meet our little Willie :)

Dr's Visit 05/16/13 & 3D Ultrasound

We went to our 35 week ultrasound this past Thursday.  I am measuring at 36cm and William's heartbeat was 140 BPM.  My blood pressure was high so she is monitoring it this weekend and when we go on Monday she will let me know whether or not I will have to be placed on blood pressure medication for the last four weeks.

Tonight we went to do the 3D ultrasound.  It was amazing to see our little one.  We have mixed reviews of who he looks like.  He looks so peaceful sleeping in the pictures.  We can't wait to hold him.  His heartbeat tonight was 138 BPM.

DR.'S Visit - 5/9/13

Today we had our 34 week ultrasound to make sure everything was OK.  The doctor said all of his organs are normal and look good.  He is measuring in the 65 percentile, average is 50 and large is 75.  He is a little big at 5lbs 11oz for 34 1/2 weeks.  She also stated that my cervix is small and for the next two weeks for me to reduce my activity because she doesn't want me to start contracting and have the baby too early.  After two weeks I can go back to regular activity and she said I should have William either the last week of May or the first week of June depending on my body.  I'm hoping for June 7, 2013.  I don't know why but I like that date...haha  But i really think he will be here alot sooner than that.  Pablo thinks it would be cool to have him around Memorial Day that way his birthday would sometimes fall on a long weekend when he is on vacation from school.

William was facing my back so it was hard for them to get a picture of his face.  We are going to try to setup another 3D ultrasound next week so we can get good pictures.  Today they refunded us our money for the CD because they couldn't get good pictures.

It's getting closer, next week we need to pack a bag to be ready, only weeks to go now......

DR.'s Visit - 4/22/13

This morning we went for our 32 week checkup.  When Dr. Richter walked in she said it was going to be a boring visit, but we always like to hear the heartbeat.  William's heartbeat was 146 BPM and I am measuring at 33 cm.

We go on May 9th for our 34 week ultrasound and checkup, this time it will be in 3D.  We can't wait to get to see William again!

CPR, Hospital Tour & Dr.'s Visit - 4/8/13

What a busy past couple of weeks we have had.  We took the baby CPR class one Saturday and toured the hospital the next.  We are now officially registered at The Woman's Hospital for William's birth.

On my birthday we had our 30 week doctor's visit, this visit went pretty quick.  His heartbeat was 144 BPM and she measured my stomach, weighed me (I've only gained 11 lbs YAY!) and we were out the door.  Unfortunately not to go home, but to go to the three hour glucose test since I failed the first one.  We headed down to Fannin and there we sat from 9:50-12:50.  The red liquid i had to drink was not tasty, the first one I took was orange and it tasted like Sunkist and was not bad at all.  So there we sat, IPads in hand playing Cribbage back and forth. (I am very lucky to have a husband that can go to all of these visits with me!).  What a wonderful way to spend your birthday everyone kept telling me..NOT!  After that was over we went to lunch and I was pooped so I took a nap and Pablo headed off to work.

Later that week I found out I passed the second part of the test, thank goodness!!

We go back on 4/22/13 for our 32 week check up and then May 9th we have our last ultrasound and start going to the doctor weekly.  Time is flying by, I can't believe I am already 31 weeks, only 9 weeks to go!

What a wonderful year this has turned out to be; new house, new baby, starting a whole new chapter in our lives....I just can't wait to see what the future holds for us :)

Dr.'s Visit - 3/25/13

Today we went for our 28 week checkup.  First I had to drink the orange glucose drink at 8:30, we saw the doctor at 9:00 and she drew my blood at 9:35.  William's heartbeat was 143 bpm.  On the next visit in two weeks, I will take the RH Negative shot.  We will go register for the hospital this week and take an Infant CPR class this coming weekend.  William's kicks and punches are getting stronger, Pablo said he is a little fighter and can't wait to put him in Taekwondo when he turns 4.  Only 12 more weeks until we finally get to meet him :)

Dr.'s Visit - 2/25/13

We went to our 24 week office visit on 2/25/13.  Dr. Leeds-Richter went over our ultrasound results with us and she said William is in the 40% percentile for weight and everything looks normal.  His heartbeat rate was 153bpm.  On our next visit I will take the Glucose test and get the prescription for the RH Negative shot since I will be at 28 weeks.  The March visit will be our last monthly visit and from there we will go every two weeks.

Pablo has been wanting to feel William kick and every time he would put his hand on my stomach he would stop.  That was until yesterday, he finally got to feel him kick and he was so happy.  We are getting excited that the day we get to meet William is getting closer :)

Dr.'s Visit - 1/24/13

Profile - Look at my cute button nose!

Yawn

I'm a boy!
Feet

We went to our 20 week ultrasound on 1/24/13.  What an ordeal I created that morning.  Our appointment was at 7:30.  I just assumed (which you should NEVER do) that the second ultrasound was the same place as the first.  The lady at the front desk said "Mrs. Garcia, this prescription is not for this imaging center" I started to cry.  We had to wait until 8:30 for my doctor's office to open and pray she would allow us to have the ultrasound there (We were told that some doctor's will tell you to go home and reschedule).  Luckily a little before 9 we received the good news that Dr. Richter approved us to stay here.

The ultrasound began and William was sound asleep, she took what measurements she could but needed him to wake up.  She had me roll onto both sides and then she poked at my stomach a little bit, finally he woke up and we were lucky enough to get a picture of his yawn!  His heartbeat is 155 BPM and he weighs 10 oz.  We saw his little feet move and he was not shy about showing us that he is definitely a boy.

From here we went to my OBGYN where she weighed me and measured my stomach.  We go back on 3/25/13 to take the glucose test and to get my first shot for being O negative.

Yesterday 1/27/13, i felt William move for the first time, what an amazing experience!

Doctor's Visit - 12/31/12

We went to the doctor on Monday and everything went well.  This was the shortest visit we have had yet.  The nurse looked for William's heartbeat but she couldn't find it.  I was a little freaked out, but once Dr. Richter came in she found it right away (What a relief!).  It was 160 BPM.  She measured my tummy and then we were able to go home.
